IGEOS offers a three and five-day learning experience
that functions as a team simulator for up to 100 participants.
From the outset participants engage in a series of simulated
team tasks designed to hold a mirror to the best and the worst
of their current team behaviors and attitudes. In a confidential
and safe environment, the highest standards of team performance
are established, allowing participants to see unproductive
patterns, explore new behaviors and make needed changes in
mindset.
The goal of the training is to enable each team member to
shift from an individual to a team mind-set. While working
together on the team tasks, participants have frequent opportunities
to recognize the gap between thinking like an individual and
thinking as a team member, and to do whatever it takes to
close that gap. The simulator makes it obvious when someone
acts from an agenda divergent from that of team success and
is unrelenting in requiring discipline, awareness and commitment.
Thinking as a team is a very different kind of activity. Participants
have to challenge their habit of acting and thinking as an
individual and become aware about the whole team and its movement
toward accomplishing the stated goal. One simple example
about one hour into the training, the facilitator may ask
the group to decide if it is time to take a break. Invariably
at least a few reply with a no, before realizing
that they could only be speaking from an individual perspective
while presuming to be answering for the entire team.
